Kings Canyon Scenic Byway

on

From the Sierra Nevada foothills past the Giant Sequoia tree grove of the first part of Kings Canyon National Park you follow the Kings Canyon Scenic Byway through the mountainous Canyonlands of Sequoia National Forest for 80 kilometres / 50 miles along this amazing winding byway until you reach roads end in the mighty Kings Canyon itself . The Californian scenery and the engineering feat to build this road are equally as impressive!

Kings Canyon is one of the deepest in North America. Whilst traversing the scenic byway I found myself stopping to take photos frequently. It truly is a scenic journey looking at those high peaks all the way down to the Kings River far below on the canyon floor!

The mighty Kings Canyon!

Kings Canyon is kind of in a relatively remote part of California yet at the same time is not that far away from Los Angeles (around 5 hours to the edge of the park). Combining a journey to Sequoia National Park and Kings Canyon National Park is well worth the drive (more on the canyon in my next post)!
