Pink’s – A Hollywood Legend Since 1939

Dear Cholesterol,

I am sorry to say this but you surely must have known that one day Pink’s Hot Dogs would come between us, it was inevitable…

Yes Pink’s have been knocking out delicious hot dogs, sausages, burgers and more from the same Hollywood location since 1939 (they went from a humble hot dog stand in 1939 to a basic restaurant in 1946 that still stands in place today). They have a huge variety on their menu to please anyone from the rich and famous to the average Joe that queues up near the corner of Melrose and La Brea to try a dog or two.

Pink’s busy, busy, busy

My appetite of destruction lead me to try the 9″ Pastrami Reuben dog with sauerkraut, Swiss cheese and mustard with a side of onion rings. Pink’s did not disappoint this more than willing first timer!

You can eat in the small dining area inside or there are plenty of spots outside. The walls of the inside dining area have hundreds of personalised photos from celebrities who have enjoyed eating at Pink’s. My favourite was from British actor and TV host James Corden: “How can something so wrong feel so right?!”. I couldn’t agree more!

I think everyone has one of these type of places stuck in the memory of their youth and the place, no matter how run-down, was the best place to hang out. There’s even one here where I live now that has been around for 64 years.. Doc’s originally opened in 1951 by a dentist. Great memories – tons of calories!!!!

Looks like a fun place to try even if it’s only one time! 🙂
