April 15th, 2012 – Seattle Centre
An annual event for the past 35 years this weekend was time for the Seattle Cherry Blossom and Japanese Cultural Festival: A Next 50 Festál Celebration at the Seattle Centre.
Taiko Drummers – this was fantastic, the beat of those drums was very impressive.
These little kids could really drum to the beat!
Yakisoba – award winning and tasty Japanese noodles!
Takoyaki “Octopus balls” – like a savoury dumpling made out of pancake likd mix with diced octopus with ginger and onion cooked in a special Takoyaki pan. Then topped wth Takoyaki sauce, mayonnaise, Aonori (dried seaweed flakes) and Katsuobushi (dried fish flakes) that “magically” comes to life and starts moving in the heat of the food!
Hahaha, you went to one too huh! The one in SF was selling octopus balls too, but the line was too line ….
Ha, yeah seems Seattle and SF are very similar places!
