Happy New Year 2012 at the Space Needle

on

January 1st, 2012

To ring in 2012, Seattle’s iconic Space Needle put on a spectacular 8 minute fireworks display that was started with a countdown like a NASA rocket take off and all timed to music (mostly space themed including music from Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Star Trek – The Next Generation, David Bowie’s “Space Oddityand audio broadcasts from the 1969 moon landing). A large crowd suddenly amassed in the hour leading up to midnight to enjoy the show and we all let out a huge cheer for the big fireworks finale. The show made my first New Year in America a memorable one!

Happy New Year for 2012!
