In September 2012 I went to one of the top aerial events of the world, the 49th annual Reno Air Races (a 5 day event) just outside Reno, Nevada USA. The races really are a fantastic event and they have it all from high-speed racing aircraft and warbirds to aerobatic aircraft and military jets. The week leading up to the air races I also got to see a…

Reno has a number of flashy casino’s and some less so to cater for everyone who wants to spend their hard earned cash! There are plenty of food options from cheap eateries and casino buffets to high end restaurants to cater for all tastes and budgets.

I was in town for the Reno Air Races rather than to gamble (not one of my favourite pastimes) but found it to be a fun town to spend a few days in. While there I also stumbled upon the Great Reno Balloon Race and got to see an early morning ascension of 87 hot air balloons including an awesome Darth Vader one that had come from Belgium! I will show more photos for the air and balloon races in future posts.

I also went to a concert by one of Australia’s living national treasures Olivia Newton John! Very different from the heavy metal/hard rock gigs I usually attend, but I thought it was a show I would never get a chance to see anywhere else, so I just had to go! Turned out to be a great show and lot of fun! The crowd went wild for Xanadu, Physical and the Grease songs!
